The Orchards Group Ends Year with Satisfied Homeowners
Posted by: | Comments
The Orchards Group, builder of active adult communities in North Atlanta, is ending the year with positive ratings from its customers. Because the builder takes customer service very seriously, receiving a 99.5 percent customer satisfaction rating from GuildQuality was a huge honor. GuildQuality is an independent third-party company that surveys the customers of its 500+ builder member network. The Orchards Group’s ratings are based on interviews conducted with homeowners who purchased a home in the last year. Besides this honor, the builder has received great feedback during informal discussions with homeowners.
Gisele Warner, a retiree who purchased a home this spring in The Orchards of Brannon Oak Farm, is one such homeowner. Warner moved here from Florida after the passing of her husband to be closer to her grandchildren. She was looking to downsize to a new home in an active adult community. She was shown The Orchards of Brannon Oak Farm by her real estate agent and fell in love with the community.
Warner purchased a two bedroom home with a den that she turned into her grandchildren’s play room. “This was the perfect home for me,” said Warner. “The location, the community, the house itself – everything is just perfect. And the staff at The Orchards Group was very cooperative, very nice. I am incredibly happy with the entire process.”
Nearly eight months after moving in, Warner is still pleased with her experience with The Orchards Group. “The homes and landscaping are kept up beautifully, and any warranty issues that have come up have been addressed promptly and appropriately.”
She is so pleased, in fact, that she has recommended the community to her brother-in-law, who has visited from out of state. He is now considering purchasing a home in the community.
The Orchards Group is the developer of three Atlanta active adult communities including The Orchards of Habersham Grove and The Orchards of Brannon Oak Farm in Forsyth County, and The Orchards of East Cherokee in Cherokee County.

Soleil’s Got Talent Raises Money for Community
Posted by: | Comments
Active adult residents at Soleil Laurel Canyon recently presented Soleil’s Got Talent. The show was a great success and raised over $2,000 for the Cherokee County Volunteer Aging Council. Residents also collected non-perishable food items for the MUST Ministries food bank.
The show opened with a “Broadway Blast” medley of show tunes by the Soleil Singers, who also performed renditions of melodies from “South Pacific” and “Chicago” throughout the evening. The show was orchestrated by a witty emcee who juggled throughout the show. He presented the more than 10 additional acts, which included comedy, piano, voice, magic and dance performances from a wide variety of entertainment genres, like swing, tap, contemporary and more.
The program included the following performances by residents of the active adult community: Ernie Jarvis, a member of the Soleil Singers’ Bass section, did an old-time comedy routine based on a North Carolina mountain man by the name of Ack Adams. The Soleil Singers’ Assistant Director, Clela Roubicek, and accompanist, Ralph Russ, comprised the Soleil Piano Duo. They performed a variety of Broadway favorites and a four-hand arrangement of the “Warsaw Concerto.” Robert Stampf, a member of the Cherokee Chorale, knocked everyone out with his singing of Sinatra’s “My Way” and “New York, New York.” Mary Nell McLauchlin and Ed Ferko, Local Motion Dance Team members, performed as one of four couples doing three well-rehearsed and very well-received routines. Another member of the Bass section, Don Sungail, sang and played the keyboard to “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.” Carol Horowitz performed a nostalgic tap dance to Gene Kelley’s “Singin’ in the Rain.” Bob Colby performed magic tricks and Al Bardakjy presented a parody to the song “Side By Side.”
Soleil Laurel Canyon’s residents cannot wait for next year’s show. For more information about living in this active adult community, please visit www.SoleilLaurelCanyon.com.

Homeowners Enjoy Carefree Lifestyle at Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge

Jim Chapman Communities builds such homes that allow active adults to make life changes. The builder’s great reputation has led many to buy in Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge, a community in Cumming, Ga. that offers homes from the $220,000s.
Two recently sold homes were bought by Jane Skellchock and her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Karen. A transplant from Maryland, Jane has been living in Georgia since 2003. Billy, on the other hand, decided to move down with his wife after touring Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge with his mother. They will now be neighbors. The maintenance-free ranch condominium homes and carefree life were perfect for the family.
“Maintaining independence was the most important to me,” stated Jane. She can do so with convenient access to nearby stores, banks and hospitals. She said, “The area will fit my needs as I get older, and I hope to stay independent as long as I can!”
The family was also impressed with the substantial building already completed and the architecture of the homes. Jane was able to work closely with the builders and staff in order to customize her home so that it would fit her needs. For instance, Jane was able to install a hot water dispenser in the kitchen so that she can easily make and sip on her favorite drink—hot tea. Jane is also excited about planting in her new garden. Though a bit smaller than her old one, it will fit her new lifestyle better.
Jane and Billy both chose the Westminster floor plan. Their homes feature large kitchens with name-brand appliances, custom-built cabinets and abundant counter space. The inviting living rooms are great for entertaining, and the oversized master suites include walk-in closets and spa bathrooms. Their homes are complete with finished bonus rooms. Since most of their family and friends will be visiting from Maryland, these private suites are one of their favorite features.
Besides having customizable floor plans, both lawn and exterior maintenance are included in the homeowner’s association fees. Amenities include a community clubhouse with a large, heated swimming pool and outdoor fireplace and fully-equipped gym. The clubhouse also has a great kitchen which, according to Jane, is perfect for cooking and gathering if too many people come to visit.
The family is looking forward to moving into their new homes and starting this new chapter in their lives. Plus, Billy will not have to travel far to visit his mother.
